Call for Panels: Fourth Annual Summit on Higher Education and Economic Development. Emerging Trends, Effective Engagement, Standards of Excellence and Emerging Techniques, St Petersburg, Florida, November 9-11, 2008. A panel consists of a 2-3 speakers and a moderator addressing a topic relevant to University Economic Development Association members and consistent with the Summit’s themes during a one-hour period. Summer Institute on Service-Learning: Service Learning: A Strategy for Keeping Youth in School, June 23-25, 2008, Clemson University National Dropout Prevention Center, will focus on the development of resilience in young people through service-learning. Participants will come away with a clear understanding of what resilience looks like, how to implement high-quality service-learning, and to be intentional in the fostering of the specific protective factors that produce resilience.
