WOSU Wins Service Awards
WOSU Public Media was honored by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging with the Outstanding Service to Seniors Award for 2009. The honor came as a result of a partnership with COAAA and LifeCare Alliance to help seniors make the transition to digital television. Read more -->
WOSU also received a national My Source Community Impact Award for Engagement from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for its digital television outreach efforts and for creating a model for helping those at -risk that was unique in the country. Read more -->
Urban Arts Space Receives Artistic Excellence Award
The Urban Arts Space in conjunction with the Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival exhibit won the 2009 Artistic Excellence Award from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. The award, given to a local arts initiative that demonstrates risk, innovation, and excellence, was given in recognition of the February 2008 opening of the exhibition, performance, and community outreach space in downtown Columbus. The Ohio State University Stone Laboratory: Restoring a Great Lake Ecosystem and Revitalizing an Economy
Stone LabŐs programs, which include the Center for Lake Erie Area Research, Ohio Sea Grant College Program, and the Great Lakes Aquatic Ecosystem Research Consortium, bring academia, government, and the private sector together to solve some of Lake ErieŐs most pressing environmental, economic, and education issues. Rebuilding the Mississippi Gulf Coast
Cty and regional planning associate professor Jennifer Evans-Cowley led her students in assisting Harrison County, Mississippi, with redevelopment following Hurricane Katrina. Move into Learning
This health and wellness initiative established as program that includes music, movement, yoga, and meditationin the classrooms of Weinland Park Elementary School, designed to help students relax, improve behavior, and be ready to learn. read more -->

Based on award-winning research from the VIP Study, this project developed a community-based model preschool vision screening program for widespread implementation. read more -->
Do Something Great
Outreach and engagement and community service stories about Ohio State students, faculty, and staff are featured on the Do Something Great page. Stories include work in a Honduran orphanage for children with HIV, a project that helps low-income taxpayers get refunds, mentoring programs to interest girls in engineering and technology, and more.
